Roofing in Philadelphia, PA

Humid summers and freeze and thaw winters are hard on brick, on flat roofs and on every joint that was never sealed properly. Philadelphia is a rowhouse city. Shared walls, flat roofs and old brick mean the work has to be done with the neighbors in mind and the water managed carefully. R&L Contractor has been handling roofing for homes in Philadelphia for more than twenty-five years, and that experience is what tells us where a house here tends to fail first.

A roof is the one part of a house that everything else depends on. When it fails, the damage rarely stays on the roof: water finds the insulation, then the drywall, then the wiring. That is why we treat every roofing job in Philadelphia as a protection job first and a construction job second.

R&L Contractor has worked on roofs across the state for more than twenty-five years. In that time we have seen what Philadelphia weather does to a house. Freeze and thaw cycles lift shingles. Ice dams push water backward under the courses. Summer storms strip whole sections in a single afternoon. A roof here is not fighting one condition, it is fighting four seasons, and it has to be built for that.

Repair, Replacement and New Installation

Not every roof needs to be replaced. When the damage is contained and the rest of the roof still has life in it, a targeted repair is the right call and the cheaper one. We say so plainly, even when a bigger job would pay us more. What we will not do is patch a roof that has already run out of years, because that money disappears and the problem comes back.

When a full replacement makes sense, we strip the old material down to the deck, check the structure underneath, and rebuild the system properly: underlayment, flashing, ventilation and the finished surface. Most of what makes a roof last is invisible from the street. Flashing done right at the chimney and the valleys prevents more leaks than any premium shingle ever will.

Storm Damage and Emergencies

Storm damage does not wait for business hours, so neither do we. Emergency service runs around the clock across our Philadelphia service area. If water is coming in tonight, the first job is to stop it, contain it and protect what is under it. The permanent repair can be scheduled once the house is dry and safe.

We document what we find with photographs before anything is touched. That record matters later, and it keeps the conversation about your roof honest and specific instead of vague.

What Working With Us Looks Like

You get an honest assessment, in writing, at no cost. We walk the roof, tell you its real condition, and lay out the options with what each one actually buys you in years. There is no sales pressure and no number invented over the phone before anyone has climbed a ladder.

The crew that quotes your roof is the crew that builds it. You are not handed off to a subcontractor after signing, and you are never routed through a call center. That continuity is the reason our timelines hold and the finished work looks the way it was promised.

Your roof protects everything you own. Get a straight answer about its condition, and a fair price to fix it.

Permits and Paperwork in Philadelphia

When the job needs a permit, we pull it through the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections, so the work passes inspection and stays legal at resale. Free estimate, honest written pricing, and one licensed crew serving Philadelphia and the surrounding neighborhoods.
