Siding Installation and Repair in New York
Siding is the shell of your house. It is the layer standing between New York weather and the structure holding everything up. When it works, you never think about it. When it fails, water gets into the sheathing and the repair bill stops being about siding at all.
R&L Contractor has installed and repaired siding across New York for more than twenty-five years. We work with vinyl and fiber cement, the two materials that make the most sense for homes in this climate, and we install them the way they are meant to be installed: with the moisture barrier, the flashing and the clearances that the manufacturer specifies and that a rushed crew skips.
What Goes On Behind the Panels
Most siding failures are not siding failures. They are water management failures. Water gets behind a panel at a window, a corner or a penetration that was never flashed correctly, and it sits there. The panels still look fine from the street for years while the sheathing behind them softens.
So when we tear off old siding, we look at what is underneath before anything new goes on. If we find rot, you see the photographs, you get the cost to repair it, and we do not continue until you have decided. Covering damage with a beautiful new wall is not a service we offer.
Vinyl and Fiber Cement
Vinyl is the practical choice for most homes: lower cost, quick installation, and essentially no maintenance for years. Modern profiles look far better than the vinyl people remember from decades ago.
Fiber cement is the premium option. It is heavier, harder to install correctly, and it rewards that effort. It holds paint, it resists impact, and it gives a house a substance that vinyl does not quite match. We install both, and we will tell you honestly which one fits your house and your budget rather than steering you toward whichever pays us more.
Curb Appeal Is the Bonus, Not the Point
New siding changes a house completely. That is the part everyone notices, and it is a real return when it comes time to sell. But the reason to do it is what you cannot see: a wall assembly that keeps water out, keeps conditioned air in and stops the slow damage that nobody catches until it is expensive.
You get a free assessment, honest pricing in writing and one licensed crew from the first panel to the last. Let us look at your exterior and tell you what it actually needs.
Trim, Soffits and Gutters
Siding is one part of an exterior system. Fascia, soffit and gutters decide where the water goes once it leaves the roof, and if they are failing, new siding is a fresh coat over an unresolved problem.
We look at the whole exterior, not just the panels you asked about. Free assessment, honest pricing in writing, and licensed crews across New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

FAQs
Siding Questions, Answered
-
Vinyl costs less, installs faster and needs almost no maintenance. Fiber cement is heavier, holds paint beautifully and stands up to impact better. We show you both, with the real cost difference, and let you decide with the numbers in front of you.
-
Often, yes. If the damage is limited to a few panels and the rest of the wall is sound, a repair is the honest answer. When water has already gotten behind the siding, replacing sections piecemeal just hides the problem.
-
It helps. Siding installed with a proper moisture barrier and, where it makes sense, added insulation, cuts the drafts that make a furnace work overtime in a New York winter.
-
We show you the photos, explain what it will take to fix, and price it before we continue. Covering damaged sheathing with new siding is not something we are willing to do.
